Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-09-06 · Applies to Grow Together for iOS and Android
Grow Together is a fully on-device parenting and growth companion. There is no account system and we run no servers of our own. Below we spell out four things plainly: what we collect, where it is stored, whether it ever leaves your device, and how you delete it.
1. What we collect
We collect no personal information. The app has no sign-up or login, does not read device identifiers, location or contacts, contains no analytics or advertising SDKs, sends no usage data and has no crash reporting. Everything you enter in the app — child profiles, height and weight, vaccines, vision, teeth, outdoor and screen time, moods, tasks and challenges, money accounts and expenses, photos and notes — lives only on your device. We cannot see any of it.
2. Where data is stored
All records are kept in a local database (SQLite) inside the app's private directory; memory-wall photos are copied into the app's own documents folder and the originals are left untouched. Any AI service key you configure yourself is kept in the system's secure storage (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore). On the first launch of each day the app writes a backup snapshot on the device; exported backup files are saved wherever you choose. On iOS, if you turn on "iCloud private backup", backup files are placed in this app's documents container under your own iCloud account and synced by Apple's iCloud between devices signed in to the same Apple ID; we have no way to access that container.
3. Third-party services
The app integrates no third-party analytics, advertising, push or account services. Purchases are completed through the Apple App Store, Google Play or Huawei AppGallery; the transaction is handled by that store under its own privacy policy, and all we receive is the single fact of whether a purchase exists — never your payment details.
4. The only case where data leaves your device: the AI service you bring
The app's AI features require you to enter an API key for a large-language-model provider of your own choosing. When you actively start an AI conversation or review, the request goes directly from your device to the provider you chose, without passing through any server of ours. What is sent:
- the question you typed;
- your child's age band (such as "3-6 years"), never the name or date of birth;
- trend summaries within the scope you authorised: growth trends give only a percentile band and level, never actual height or weight; mood and behaviour give only the frequency trend of the last eight weeks; tasks and check-ins give only completion rates; money gives only proportions and ranges, never amounts, and is off by default.
Each category has its own switch under "Me → AI settings → Data scope". Before every request, a data card appears in the conversation listing exactly what will be included and what is explicitly withheld, so you can look before you send. Parent self-care notes and "Echoes of childhood" selections never enter the AI context and have no switch that could enable them. How the provider handles these requests is governed by its own privacy policy; usage fees are settled between you and the provider.
5. Permissions
| Permission | Purpose | Required |
|---|---|---|
| Photos / Camera | Pick or take one photo for the memory wall; it is copied into the app directory, never uploaded | Optional |
| Notifications | Reminders for vaccines, check-ups, water and medicine, all scheduled on-device with no push server | Optional |
| Exact alarms (Android 12+) | Lets water and medicine reminders fire on the minute; falls back to inexact reminders if not granted | Optional |
| Vibration | Light haptic feedback when dragging cards or switching tabs | Optional |
| Network | Used only to send requests to the AI provider you configured; with no key set, the app opens no network connection at all | Optional |
6. Deleting data
At any time you can clear AI conversations or delete all data under "Me → Data & backup → Danger zone"; deleting all data also removes the on-device snapshots. Uninstalling the app deletes all data on the device. Backup files you exported elsewhere or placed in your own iCloud are yours to delete. Because we hold no data, there is no "ask us to delete it" step.
7. Children's privacy
This app is intended for parents and primary caregivers, not for direct use by children, and it collects no information from children. The records you enter about your child stay on your device under your full control. Please do not type your child's name, school or other identifying details into AI conversations; the app will not send them on your behalf by default.
8. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above; material changes to how data is handled will also be announced inside the app.
