Clothes bought online rarely reveal their fit until they arrive, and returns are a chore; meanwhile the wardrobe you already own stops yielding new combinations. DressWell rebuilds an avatar close to you on the phone, brings in the clothes you actually own — one photo each — alongside the built-in garments, and lets you layer them and spin the result.

These are engineering trade-offs, not a verdict. Photo generation can produce a more flattering picture of you, which is its strength; the table lists what the other road buys instead.
Honest limits: what it cannot do today
- It is not cloth physics. Fit is computed geometry rather than fabric dynamics, so drape and movement are approximations.
- The avatar will not be identical to you. It is a parametric human; photo recognition gives starting values you keep adjusting, not a scan-grade likeness.
- Uploading clothes depends on photo quality. Standard online-shop product shots work best; a casual snap with uneven light and a busy background needs manual cropping and touch-up.
- LiDAR scanning is iPhone-only, on models that have the sensor. Android does not offer it.
- The download is large, because 3D assets ship inside the app in exchange for working entirely offline.

What is DressWell?
A 3D fitting room on your phone. You shape an avatar close to yourself — height, body, face, skin tone, hair — then style it with built-in garments or your own real clothes photographed into the app, and view it from any angle. Reconstruction, rendering and styling all run locally, and no account is required.
Are my photos and body measurements uploaded?
Not by default. DressWell has no servers and no account system: your avatar, saved looks and uploaded garments live in the app's own sandbox, with optional backup into your personal iCloud container. The one exception is if you deliberately configure your own model provider in Settings — the photo then goes directly to the endpoint you entered and is handled under that provider's retention policy. We never hold your key and never proxy the request, so we cannot see it either.
Does it work offline?
Yes. The fitting room, built-in garments, face and body shaping, and photographing your own clothes are all local computation and work in airplane mode. Only the optional AI styling advice needs a connection, because that step calls the model provider you configured yourself.

Do I have to supply my own API key for the stylist?
Yes, and that is deliberate. You enter your own model provider in Settings — nine common ones come pre-filled — the request goes straight to that provider, and the bill is yours. That way we neither handle your photos nor need to fold inference costs into a subscription. Without a key the app still works, and everywhere AI would help falls back to doing it by hand.
Which devices are supported?
iOS and Android. 3D rendering uses Google Filament and does ask something of the GPU, so frame rates drop on older phones. Scanning real objects with LiDAR is available only on iPhone Pro / Pro Max models that have it; Android does not offer that feature.
How do I move my data to a new phone?
On iOS you can turn on iCloud backup; your avatar and custom garments sync into your own private iCloud container, and you restore them after installing the app on the new phone. If you bought Pro, tap Restore purchase on the paywall and sign in with the same store account — the entitlement comes back and you are not charged twice.
How do I delete my data?
The privacy page in Settings lets you delete each item: saved looks, uploaded garments, and the photo used to shape the avatar. Deletion is local and immediate. Uninstalling the app removes everything in its sandbox. If you enabled iCloud backup, also remove the app's data in your system iCloud settings.
